TCF 2025 Youth Mentor Tonga Initiave
The 2025 TCF Youth Mentor Program — The Tonga Initiative TCF will take a group of 40 young Australians, aged 12 to 17, from Queanbeyan, Braidwood, Goulburn, Crookwell, and Canberra, to embark on a transformative journey to Tonga. These young individuals, who have demonstrated a strong commitment to improving their futures, will participate in an initiative that combines cultural exchange, community service, and personal development.
The group will work alongside local students from GMS Mu’a Middle School under the supervision of qualified tradespeople, TCF mentors, and volunteers. Together, they will construct a new library for the school and stock it with books generously donated by communities across their hometowns.
The project will take place in Mu’a, a village approximately 12 kilometres from Nukuʻalofa, Tonga’s capital. Mu’a holds significant historical importance as the third capital of ancient Tonga, serving as the nation’s administrative centre from the 13th to 19th centuries. Situated in the eastern district of Tongatapu, the village offers a rich cultural backdrop for this collaborative initiative.
